Ends 2018 on high note
Patrick concluded 2018 having caught 23 of 41 passes for 315 yards and a touchdown. He added 17 yards on three carries and fumbled twice, losing one.
Analysis: With Denver drafting two receivers in each of the past two drafts, a youth movement was expected at wideout, but perhaps aside from 2018 second-round pick Courtland Sutton, none of them showed as much promise as Patrick, a 2017 undrafted free agent out of Utah. Patrick was primarily a special-teams contributor for most of the season, but came on strong during the season's final four games following the season-ending Achilles' injury to Emmanuel Sanders. Patrick averaged 4.75 catches and 60.5…read more

Back on field
Patrick (knee) has returned to Sunday's game against the Chargers, Nicki Jhabvala of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Patrick briefly left the field during the second quarter of Sunday's season finale, then stormed out of halftime with a 21-yard reception. The 25-year-old returns to his role as the Broncos' No. 3 receiver.

Exits game with knee injury
Patrick is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Chargers due to a knee injury, Mike Klis of 9News Denver reports.
Analysis: Patrick exited Sunday's season finale during the second quarter. As long as the 25-year-old remains sidelined, River Caracraft will slot in as Denver's No. 3 wideout.

Makes three catches in loss
Patrick caught three of five targets for 44 yards in Monday night's 27-14 loss to Oakland. He also lost seven yards on his lone rushing attempt.
Analysis: Since reeling in a season-high seven of 11 targets for 85 yards Week 15, Patrick has slowly come back down to earth over the last two weeks, seeing decreased numbers across the board in successive games. It wasn't entirely his fault, though, as the Broncos were completely shut out in the first half and continued their sloppy play in the second. The 25-year-old will look to rebound at home Week 17 against the Chargers.

Team's leading receiver in loss
Patrick hauled in five of eight targets, registering a team-high 65 receiving yards during Saturday's 17-16 loss to the Browns.
Analysis: The second-year man out of Utah has been surprisingly steady over the past two weeks, hauling in 12 of 18 targets for 150 receiving yards against Cleveland's and San Francisco's relatively inexperienced secondaries. Patrick may prove to be the Broncos wideout you want on your roster over the final two weeks of the regular season, as he ranks second behind DaeSean Hamilton in wide receiver targets since Emmanuel Sanders (Achilles) went down due to injury, and clearly has earned Case Keenum's…read more

Spearheads receiving corps in win
Patrick brought in seven of 10 targets for 85 yards in the Broncos' 20-14 loss to the 49ers on Sunday. He also rushed once for 11 yards and fumbled once, although it was recovered by the offense.
Analysis: Patrick co-led the Broncos in receptions while pacing the team in receiving yardage and targets, stepping to the forefront in the wake of Emmanuel Sanders' season-ending Achilles injury. The rookie brings excellent size at 6-4, 212 pounds, and he displayed a strong rapport with Case Keenum in the low-scoring loss. Patrick should be able to improve the more game reps he sees, potential he'll look to deliver on against the Browns in a Week 15 Saturday night matchup.

Should see more targets
Patrick's teammate, Emmanuel Sanders, is out for the season with a ruptured Achilles' tendon, Nicki Jhabvala of The Athletic reports. Patrick is thus likely in line for an uptick in usage.
Analysis: When the Broncos drafted Courtland Sutton and DaeSean Hamilton in April, the thought was that they would be the receivers of the future. The future is now, as Demaryius Thomas was traded away in October and Sanders is now out for the year. While the focus will be on the rookies and veteran acquisition Andre Holmes, don't discount Patrick, who, while not a rookie, is getting the first in-game action of his career. Patrick has actually been targeted more than Hamilton this season, 11 passes to…read more

Catchless in win
Patrick was unable to nab his lone target during Sunday's 23-22 win over the Chargers.
Analysis: The catchless label is accurate but a little misleading: Patrick actually delivered on a clutch 11-yard reception with the Broncos driving in the game's final seconds but was called for a controversial offensive pass interference penalty after jostling with the defender for the ball. Still, Patrick looks like a WR3 for Denver at the moment, ranking third among the team's receivers with 27 snaps Sunday. That might increase if rookie DaeSean Hamilton (knee) misses time. Next up on Sunday is the…read more

Targeted four times in loss
Patrick caught one of four targets for 17 yards during Sunday's 19-17 loss to Houston.
Analysis: The departure of Demaryius Thomas didn't pay immediate dividends for Patrick as Denver focused targets on Jeff Heuerman, Emmanuel Sanders and Courtland Sutton. Patrick still seems like somebody who -- at 6-foot-5 -- could be a dangerous red-zone target. His role should shake out better after the bye, when fans will learn whether he or rookie DaeSean Hamilton settles into the No. 3 receiver role.

May get more work in three-receiver sets
Patrick appears likely to earn regular snaps in the Broncos' three-receiver sets Sunday against the Texans with DaeSean Hamilton (knee) ruled out for the contest, Nicki Jhabvala of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: For at least one game, Patrick looks set to climb two spots on the depth chart, as the Broncos' decision to rule out Hamilton was preceded by the team dealing Demaryius Thomas to Houston on Tuesday. Those absences leave only Emmanuel Sanders and Courtland Sutton as the team's starting receivers, though Patrick should get plenty of work on obvious passing downs when fullback Andy Janovich is off the field. Patrick likely won't be a major priority in the passing game whenever he's on the field,…read more

Scores first career touchdown
Patrick caught a 24-yard touchdown on his only target and added a 13-yard run during Sunday's 30-23 loss in Kansas City.
Analysis: Patrick capped off the Broncos' 75-yard, 49-second touchdown drive to end the first half, slipping behind the secondary for a wide-open touchdown. Following an impressive preseason, Patrick has been relegated primarily to special-teams duties this season. That might change with Demaryius Thomas now in Houston. One can easily picture a three-wide-receiver set in which Patrick and rookie Courtland Sutton are on the outside and veteran Emmanuel Sanders is in the slot. Next up is a Sunday showdown…read more

Snags clutch catch
Patrick caught one of two targets for a 26-yard gain during Sunday's 20-19 win over Oakland.
Analysis: Patrick saw the field for just four offensive snaps but made the most of them. After narrowly missing a touchdown reception earlier in the game, Patrick hauled in a short pass during Denver's final drive. Once he secured the ball, Patrick cut away from cornerback Gareon Conley, then sprinted up field for a big gain to set up the game-winning field goal. It was the Utah product's first career catch. Patrick's contributions in Denver are likely to be focused on special teams with two established…read more

Survives cuts
Patrick has a spot on Denver's initial 53-man roster, Nicki Jhabvala of The Athletic Denver reports.
Analysis: Patrick was unable to stick with the Ravens or 49ers as an undrafted rookie last year, but he's apparently made quite a bit of progress heading into his second season. He gets the final spot on Denver's wideout depth chart, behind Demaryius Thomas, Emmanuel Sanders, Courtland Sutton and DaeSean Hamilton. There isn't much opportunity for upward mobility in the receiving ranks, but Patrick may be able to contribute on special teams.

Could make team
Patrick is an early favorite for the No. 5 wideout job in Denver, Benjamin Allbright of 104.7 FM Denver reports.
Analysis: Denver seems pretty set with its four primary targets -- veterans Emmanuel Sanders and Demaryius Thomas and rookies Courtland Sutton and DeSean Hamilton. Patrick, a second-year target out of Utah, is a bit of a surprise as a depth option, especially with 2017 draft picks still on the roster. Head coach Vance Joseph has said that backup receivers will need to be special-teams aces, something Patrick is capable of doing. Should he make the team, he would provide Case Keenum with yet another…read more
