The Jaguars signed Bortles (wrist) to a two-year contact extension Saturday, The Florida Times-Union reports.

Analysis: Bortles was slated to earn $19 million in 2018 after the Jaguars picked up the fifth-year option of his rookie contract, but the team opted to lock him up through 2020 with a new three-year deal worth $54 million, with $26.5 million guaranteed according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. The 25-year-old was expected to remain in Jacksonville and the new deal confirms it, but the guaranteed money does limit the team's long-term commitment.

Bennett (shoulder) wants to return to the football field for the 2018 season, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Analysis: Bennett indicated plans to retire before being waived by the Packers in November, and subsequently claimed by the Patriots. The 30-year-old appeared in only two games for New England before landing on injured reserve, and is due a two million dollar roster bonus March 14, which makes him a potential cap casualty.

    • Harris announced his retirement from the...

Harris announced his retirement from the NFL on Friday, Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald reports.

Analysis: Prior to his surprising release last summer, Harris was a consistent force in the middle of the Jets' defense for years after the team traded up to select the Michigan product in the second round of the 2007 draft. He ultimately racked up the second-most tackles in Jets history (1,087) during his 10 seasons with Gang Green and goes down as one of the team's all-time great defenders despite being perennially underrated by the media. Factoring in his one-year stint in New England, Harris will finish his career with 1,109 tackles, 36.5 sacks, six interceptions and 11 forced fumbles over 164 career games.

Jordan recently underwent minor surgery on his left foot, Josh Katzenstein of the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.

Analysis: Jordan, who currently requires a protective boot and scooter to move around, reportedly underwent a voluntary procedure that had more to do with "pain tolerance" than anything else. The fact that he played in the Pro Bowl prior to undergoing surgery suggests the situation truly is minor in nature. The 2017 All-Pro defensive end is expected to be recovered within 4-6 weeks and should therefore be healthy in time for the Saints' offseason program this spring.

    • The Chiefs agreed to trade Peters...

The Chiefs agreed to trade Peters to the Rams on Friday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Analysis: The deal won't officially go through until March 14, while the Chiefs are expected to receive a package of draft picks in return. It's a surprising move for a Kansas City team that could've kept Peters around for two more years on his current rookie deal, especially when considering the 2015 first-rounder has seven more interceptions than any other player in the league since 2015, including the playoffs. By comparison, only Hall of Fame safety Ed Reed had more interceptions (22) in his first three seasons than Peters' 21. The newly signed David Amerson and newly acquired Kyle Fuller will likely take over as the Chiefs' top cornerbacks in advance of the 2018 season, though it's possible Kansas City could add another talent to the mix.
